Fall RCN Meeting
Fall 2018 Rural Counselors' Network Meeting
October 8th, 2018 8:00-3:00pm Northern Quest Resort & Casino Airway Heights, WA
The Rural Counselors' Network (RCN) Fall Meeting is sponsored by the Rural Alliance. It is an opportunity for counselors of small rural school districts to come together to learn from, and collaborate with one another. Counselors and those that support the counseling role in small rural districts are invited to attend.
The vision of the Rural Alliance is success for every rural student, family, and community. The primary focus of the RCN is to increase readiness for college, career (CCR), and life for all students, including growth in academic, career and social-emotional development. Goals for counselors: 1. Share resources, information, and tools to support college, career, and life readiness and 2. Engage in peer collaboration and mentoring to strengthen practice.
Agenda will include: HS & Beyond Plan and the Counselor Framework as it relates to small rural schools, thinking systemically for the whole-child "life plan", development of regional pods, Admissions, College Bound, and Social-Emotional Supports. This is a meeting, not a 'sit and get' day! Please come ready to network and share ideas!
$30 fee will be used to offset lunch expenses. Payment options during registration include: pay online, pay by invoice, or pay at the door with a check.
Event Agenda
The Big Eight
The Big Eight project began with the premise that there is a small number of critical ‘life skills’ or personal attributes that students need to practice and that educators need to include as an essential part of learner development. ‘Life Skills’ improve access to learning, success in career, and formulate an individual’s engagement as a fictional member of a community.
